You’re not the only one enjoying these 70 degree days. Warm weather entices pests from dark corners and dank holes, scrabbling into the sunlight for food and water. Spring and summer are high season for pests like ants, mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, wasps and hornets, snakes, scorpions, and other common home pests. How can you keep your house rodent and roach free? Progressive Pest Control is here to help.
How to Deter Spring Pests
- Preventative pest control. Once pests have invaded your home, you have to live with them until you can eradicate the infestation. The best defense is a good offense. Keep pests from getting into your home by scheduling spring pest control.
- Know the enemy. Are the bushes out back fertile ground for snake nests? Does your kitchen window have tiny cracks that let ants come marching in? General pest control deters the most common home invaders, but if you know certain pests are a problem, take the added precaution of installing barriers or bait traps for specific pests.
- Keep a weather eye open. Sawdust by the floorboards or roach droppings in the cabinets are a good sign that you have a pest infestation. The earlier you catch the problem, the easier it will be to contain.
- Know your weaknesses. Do you often forget to take the garbage out? Do you let open water stagnate in porch planters? Do your kids forget to tidy up crumbs in the kitchen? You might be encouraging a pest problem without even realizing it.
When in doubt, call the pros. Progressive Pest Control has a “kill the bug” policy. If you find a live bug within six months of a pest control treatment, we’ll come out and spray again for free.
