When it comes to pest control, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. As the weather cools down, all kinds of critters will seek shelter indoors. Don’t make it easier for them! Try these tips from Progressive Pest Control and keep pests out of your home or business.
First of all, look out for leaves! Dispose of fall leaves properly so that bugs and rodents have nowhere to hide in your yard. If you’d rather not burn leaves, which can aggravate asthma and other breathing conditions, consider an alternative disposal method.
While you’re cleaning up your yard, don’t forget about the inside! Take out the trash regularly. If you collect recycling, make sure to rinse out plastic and glass containers. Keep trash and recycling in sealed containers. Keep your sink and your tables clear of dishes. Sweep, mop, and/or vacuum regularly, especially in rooms where you eat.
Did you know dirty dishes in your dishwasher can attract bugs as well? Pre-rinse dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, and make sure you don’t leave dirty dishes in the dishwasher for long. If you notice bugs around or even in the dishwasher, running an empty cycle should help clear out any lingering food particles.
With the beautiful weather we’re enjoying in Northeast Atlanta, it’s a great time to open the windows and air out after the hot summer. Before you do, make sure your windows have screens! Promptly replace screens that have holes or rips so that pests can’t take advantage of you while you take advantage of the weather.
