As the cold weather approaches, rodents will seek indoor shelter (in your home or business)! If rodents stick around for too long, snakes will follow. Taking proactive steps can prevent a rodent infestation. If you already have a pest issue, contact Progressive Pest Control.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there are three easy steps to follow to prevent a rodent infestation.
The number one way rodents enter a home or business is through cracks and holes in the structure. Every other month, take a walk around the building and inspect the structure very carefully (pay extra attention to the ground level). If you see any holes, small or large, immediately seal them.
Rodent traps are one way to catch the intruders. Catching them before they multiply is imperative. (However, we don’t recommend traps if you have small children, as this may be a potentially dangerous situation).
Anything that holds food should be tightly sealed or cleaned immediately (i.e. grill, trash can, dog bowl, bird feeder). Additionally, eliminate possible nesting sites. For example, mice and rats like to make their home in old vehicles and tires.
